Barisal won the first title after defeating the champions Comilla Victorians. The team won the toss in the final and bowled Comilla for 154 runs, the team that won the first trophy.

On Friday (March 1) at the Mirpur Sher-e-Bangla National Cricket Stadium, they won the toss and did not allow Comilla to score more than 154 runs in the allotted 20 overs. In response, Barisal confirmed the victory with 6 wickets in hand.

Despite reaching the final in 2022 under the current franchise, Barisal lost to Comilla by just 1 run in a thrilling match. Earlier in 2012, the team called Barisal Burners reached the final in the first season of BPL. But they lost to Dhaka Gladiators by 8 wickets in the final.

After that in 2015, the team playing Barisal Bulls could not win the title after losing to Comilla by 3 wickets despite reaching the final.

This time, Barisal got the playoff ticket from the third place in the league stage. The team from South Bengal reached the final after performing well in the eliminator and second qualifier in the playoffs. According to Mushfiqur Rahim, two wins in the playoffs will give the team confidence.

In this year’s BPL, Comilla started their journey losing to the great Dhaka, who ended the season at the bottom of the table. After that, they turned around and went to the playoffs from second place.

In the first qualifier, Comilla secured the final by defeating Rangpur Riders, the top team in the points table.
